thinking about this tiktok i saw where a lady explains why its so hard for adults to make/find friends; forced proximity. rarely are we given to opportunity to actually interact with another person when we're older. its wake up, go to work, do your job and head home. of course, you CAN talk to other people, but 98.9% of the time they're just as busy as you are and aren't really up to conversation for the same reasons you are. Anxiety is a big factor in this, I think. humans are social creatures, it's what everyone craves, but it's hard finding other people that magically find your interests.

which leads to places like the internet. its fascinating to me, how others would put themselves in these houses essentially with a ton of strangers and interact. even if they're nervous, even if it's a pretty big place...they're excited! they're excited to get to know others, and people are friendly and nice.... i dunno, the world seems scary but places like these make it less so.

and before you say "well, people can just fake being good on the internet." that's true! but i feel like people are much more open on the world wide web than real life. you can slap a profile picture and an alias and you're technically free to say what you wanna actually say. i think there's a study too that people online, in fact, are exactly who they are in real life good and bad. so yeah! peace and love on the planet earth forever and ever.
